Electricity prices in Japan
Japanese residential electricity costs roughly ¥31 per kWh on average, including the fuel-cost adjustment and renewable-energy levy that appear on every bill. Rates are tiered: the first block of usage is cheaper and heavy use costs more per unit. Your bill (kenshin-hyo, or the app of your provider) shows the exact rate for your plan.

Finding an appliance's wattage
Look for the rating label on the appliance or in its manual, usually marked 消費電力 (power consumption) in watts. Air conditioners and refrigerators list an annual consumption in kWh as well, which is often more useful than the peak wattage because they cycle on and off.
