Online Stopwatch — A free stopwatch with lap times for sports, games and practice
A simple stopwatch that runs in your browser. Record lap times without stopping, see the fastest and slowest laps highlighted, and read both lap and cumulative times. For interval training, timing a recipe step or rehearsing a talk.
Time your intervals, laps or rehearsal, and record each segment with the Lap button.
Stopwatch: tips and things to know
- A lap time is the length of one segment; a split time is the total elapsed at that point. This stopwatch shows both.
- For presentations, one to two minutes per slide is a common pacing guide.
- Timing is based on the system clock, so it stays accurate even if the browser tab is busy.
How to use the Stopwatch
Start

Record laps

Stopwatch FAQ
What does the Lap button do?
It records the current time without stopping the stopwatch, so you can time each segment of a run, a workout or a speech.
What do the colours in the lap table mean?
Green marks the fastest lap and red the slowest. Colours appear once you have two or more laps.
Does it keep running in another tab?
Yes. It measures elapsed time from the clock, so switching tabs does not affect the result.
