- Japan Standard Time is UTC+9 all year; Japan does not observe daylight saving time, so the gap to other countries shifts twice a year.
- Tokyo is 14 hours ahead of New York (13 in US summer) and 9 hours ahead of London (8 in British summer).
- 9 a.m. in Tokyo is 4 p.m. the previous day on the US West Coast, and 8 p.m. the previous day in New York.
